Latest Updates from Our Project:

File #24 // Summer Update!
2 days ago – Thu, Jun 04, 2026 at 04:41:42 PM

Hey Awesome Gang!

We hope the end of spring treated you well. Things have been busy here at 2Awesome Studio, and we have a lot to share with you today. New content, world updates, and some friends we want you to meet.

Let's get into it.

More Killshifts!

A few executions were never going to be enough. We added more Killshifts to the game, each one slick, brutal, and satisfying to pull off. Jack has new ways to finish a fight in style.

Neo Barcelona Feels More Alive

Every biome now has background NPCs walking around and destructible objects scattered across the environment. The city reacts to you. Break things. Watch the city breathe around you.

Biome Visual Updates

We have been putting serious work into the look and feel of Neo Barcelona, and we want to show you two areas getting major attention.

Sagrada Familia

Controlled by La Familia, Neo Barcelona's mafia-like gang, the Sagrada Familia megastructure runs gambling and entertainment on both sides of the law. Their boss goes by "Father", but the title is just that. They are not a real family. They took the name from the unfinished cathedral, and they made it their own.

The Great Vyne

Neo Barcelona is overpopulated, overcrowded, loud, and full of neon. The Great Vyne is the answer to all of that. A city within the city, built from warm nature instead of cold corporate steel. It is a rare place to breathe in a metropolis that never stops moving.

Lasers

Getting around Neo Barcelona was never going to be simple. The city is full of obstacles designed to keep you out of gang territory. Laser grids are one more thing standing between Jack and the next objective. Watch your step.

Another indie campaign worth checking out

Hey awesome gang!

We wanted to take a moment today to point you toward another indie team that just hit a very familiar milestone: THEY LAUNCHED A KICKSTARTER!!

The game is SHADE Protocol, a cyber-fantasy Metroidvania about music-based weapons, fast combat, strange powers, and cutting the world itself apart to open new paths.

You can find the campaign here:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/littlelegendary/shade-protocol

A Kickstarter launch is a strange mix of excitement, terror, hope, refreshing the page too much, and trying to act normal about it.

We remember that feeling very well.

When we launched Altered Alma, this community helped us in so many ways. Some of you backed the campaign, some shared it around, some left comments, and some simply told a friend, “hey, this might be your kind of thing.

For a small team, all of that matters more than people might think.

So today, we want to pass a bit of that support forward.

SHADE Protocol also recently revealed a collaboration with CrossCode and Alabaster Dawn from Radical Fish Games. That includes secret bosses, cinematic abilities inspired by both games, guest music from SHIRAKUMO Nagi, and more if the campaign reaches certain stretch goals.

Mostly, though, we just think their game looks cool.

Fast combat, stylish pixel art, secrets, reality-cutting powers (personal favorite), and a world that seems very unsafe in the best possible way.

If that sounds interesting, please check out the campaign, follow it, back it, or share it with someone who might enjoy it.

Let’s help another indie team get their game in front of more people.

A huge shoutout to everyone who’s been active on our Discord, giving us your love, support and feedback. Your input has been incredibly valuable and has helped us fine-tune the game and polish the final details. We’ve been taking tons of notes, and your excitement genuinely keeps us going.

🎁 Backer Rewards & What’s Next 🎁
about 1 month ago – Tue, Apr 28, 2026 at 06:07:45 AM

Hi Awesome gang!

We’ve been deep in development, and today we want to show you progress on some of the rewards you helped shape, plus a few important updates on what’s coming next.

Also many of you tried out the demo, shared feedback, streamed the game, and talked about it with others. Every message, video, and comment helped our team understand how players interact with Altered Alma. Thank you for taking the time to support the project.

📅 Altered Alma… When??

“Release Date?” “When will the game launch?” “Is Altered Alma the friends we made along the way?”

We know you may be worried about the game release and we completely understand your concern… So we got good news for you!

In the next 4-5 weeks during the Summer Showcases period we will finally announce the OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE for Altered Alma!

Also to answer another of your questions: Yes, we plan to release Altered Alma on PC and consoles at the same time!

We’ll share more details soon. The team is fully focused on locking everything in.

⚙️ Demo Updates - SOON!

The Steam Next Fest brought a large wave of players to the demo. We saw many positive reactions, kind messages, and a large amount of detailed feedback. Our team read every report and messages; all of this gave us valuable insight.

The current demo is designed to show the core mechanics of the game in a really quick way. Because of this, some parts of the experience move faster than they will do in the final version. A few story moments were shortened or moved earlier in the demo so you could see more of the systems during a short play session.

So we want to clarify some of your fears and doubts by telling you that the final game will feature different pacing in several sections like: Story progression, character interactions, and exploration will feel more natural once the full structure of the game is in place.

✨ Feedback Changes!

Your feedback from the event already helps us improve the demo. Our team works on several updates based on the most common requests.

  • Control remapping sits at the top of the list. Many players asked for this option during the event. We started work on a full control remapping system so players shape the controls to their preference.
  • Also the parry system is been worked on. You made us clear this part of the combat stil lrequires some work as you saw it too risky and not rewarding enough to use. We’re gonna make some tweaks and tests to make sure you like to parry as much as you like to dodge!

These are some of the main changes we will be working on! Heads up for more updates in future newsletters and events!

Accessibility and Difficulty Settings

We want Altered Alma to adapt to you, gaming should be fun and “skill issue” is not an option for us. We understand some of you may want a more hardcore experience and some of you would rather to mostly enjoy the narrative and jump around the city, so we want to give you the option!

We’re building a full set of difficulty and accessibility options so you can tune the experience to your preference.

This is an early placeholder, end result may vary.

This includes:

  • Damage multipliers
  • Parry and execution timing windows
  • Player power adjustments
  • Platforming assistance options

We’re also working on a dedicated Hard Mode for players who want a serious challenge.

You will be able to lower the difficulty for a smoother experience or push everything to extreme levels if you want to test your skills.

This is an early placeholder, end result may vary.

💰 Backers Rewards in Progress

🚀 Ship Customization Rewards

Let’s do a quick recap of what these rewards include:

Personal Ship
A small, one-person ship built for speed and mobility. You’ll choose from a selection of elegant designs, and your name will be displayed on it.

 Fighter Ship
A compact but heavily armed ship. You’ll be able to build your own version by selecting parts like turrets, domes, plasma cannons, and decorations. Your ship will also feature custom graffiti with its name.

Battlecruiser
A large-scale ship focused on presence and power. You’ll customize major elements like propulsion systems, heavy weapons, and structure pieces. Your chosen name will appear on the hull as graffiti.

How We’ll Bring Them Into the Game

We’re setting up a system so you can directly shape your ship.

Backers in these tiers will receive an email with a form. Inside, you’ll select from a curated set of ship parts based on your reward tier.

  • You’ll be able to mix and match components to create your own design. After that, you’ll choose the name of your ship.
  • We’ll review all submissions to confirm they fit within character limits and follow basic guidelines.
  • Once your ship is ready, you’ll receive a unique code.
  • You’ll use this code in-game to access a special dock area where your ship will be displayed.

⚠️ Neon Signs

This one has been a lot of fun.

We reached out to backers in this tier and worked directly with you to define the ideas behind each sign. Then our art team brought them into the world of Altered Alma.

Now we’re finalizing designs and integrating them into the game world

These signs will appear across Neo Barcelona, adding personality to the city while making your mark part of the game itself.

🤖 C-Mods Rewards

We’ve also been working on C-Mods, special combat mods for Jack to use across the city!

Backer-designed C-Mods are now being implemented and tested. These are not simple reskins. Each one affects combat in a meaningful way, adding new strategies and playstyles.

Check this Mod for Example:

Outrider: VERA periodically shoots physical damage projectiles towards Enemy positions

We’re focusing on making each C-Mod feel distinct and worth experimenting with.

🧪 Beta Testing

You’ve been wondering if you missed the opportunity for the Beta testing. The Answer is NO! You still have time and we’re preparing the next waves for you to try!

Remember to check your Spam Folder on your mail and also the Kickstarter and Discord Announcements on our Server!

We’ll give you more info soon!

A huge shoutout to everyone who’s been active on our Discord, giving us your love, support and feedback. Your input has been incredibly valuable and has helped us fine-tune the game and polish the final details. We’ve been taking tons of notes, and your excitement genuinely keeps us going.

Warm regards,

We can't wait for you to experience this update and to hear your opinions about the changes!

BUT WAIT!! Did we say Steam NEXT Fest? Actually, the demo will be available sooner!

⏱️ Convergence Games Showcase

Also, we will be participating in the Convergence Games Showcase! An awesome event where indie devs and influencers unite to share and play future indie games!

But you remember we just told you the demo will be available soon? Well… The demo WILL BE UPDATED TODAY! During the Convergence Showcase, we also prepared a new teaser-trailer just for you!

🖥️ Demo’s NEW Content & Gameplay

Multidimensional Level:

We’ve added a secret “high skill” platforming section for players who want a serious challenge. It is built around precise movement and mastery of the Quantum Blade.
If you enjoy putting your skills to the test, this area is for you.

Improved Combat!

Combat has been refined to feel more tactical and responsive. Jack now has a broader set of offensive options: more combos, power-ups and more… Allowing you to approach encounters with more intention. The Quantum Blade plays a central role in maintaining combat rhythm, helping you chain attacks, control space, and keep momentum.

Enemy Balancing:

We’ve adjusted enemy health, attack values, and overall density across all levels. We listened to you and maintained intensity while improving readability and pacing.

Encounters should feel demanding but fair.

Reward System:

Defeating enemies now grants coins and restores a portion of health. Using the dagger regenerates energy, encouraging active and aggressive play. These changes support a faster, more engaging combat loop.

Improved Tutorials:

All in-game tutorials have been revised for clarity. We streamlined explanations and improved onboarding so new players understand mechanics quickly without breaking immersion.

🌃 World & Immersion

Background NPCs:

Neo Barcelona feels more alive. We added NPCs with speech bubbles that provide hints, small narrative details, and environmental context. They enrich the atmosphere without slowing you down.

Environmental Life:

New background animations and interactive elements bring more movement and personality to each district. The city now reacts and breathes around you.

Destructibles:

Breakable objects are now present across all rooms. You can clear your path and enjoy the chaos!

🎧 UI, Audio & Polish

Level Cameras:

We implemented significant improvements to camera behavior throughout the game. Transitions feel smoother, and visibility during combat and platforming has improved.

UI/Menus:

All menus received additional polish. Navigation is clearer and more consistent with the overall visual identity of Altered Alma.

Cinematics:

The opening cinematic has been added, setting the tone for Jack’s journey from the very first moment.

Audio:

We introduced new sound effects and implemented audio for the logo carousel. (Our logos now have cool sounds!) Hehe

From all of us at 2Awesome Studio, thank you for supporting Altered Alma and following this journey with us. Your feedback and enthusiasm keep us moving forward.
We wish you a strong start to the year, and we look forward to seeing you during Steam Next Fest.

Happy Holidays + 2025 Recap
5 months ago – Wed, Dec 24, 2025 at 09:01:17 AM

Hey awesome gang!!

As we look back on an unforgettable 2025, the entire Altered Alma team wants to wish you Happy Holidays and an awesome New Year. This year has been one of the most exciting in our studio’s history, and it’s all thanks to you, our amazing community.

Your support has been the driving force behind every milestone we reached. We are endlessly grateful for every pledge, every comment, and every bit of enthusiasm you shared with us. So let’s take a moment to look back at what we accomplished together throughout 2025.

🌟 2025: A Year full of Memories

This year was a whirlwind for Altered Alma, and we loved every second of sharing it with you. Here are some of the highlights that made 2025 so special:

GDC / Day of the Devs 2025

GDC 2025 was an unforgettable moment for 2Awesome Studio. We started strong with Day of the Devs, where we showcased Altered Alma alongside some of the most exciting indie games of the year. Seeing players try the game for the first time and hearing feedback directly from the community was incredibly inspiring.

2Awesome Studio Founders, David and Alejandro with the Best in Play winner award

We were thrilled to receive a nomination for the Best in Play Award, and even more thrilled when we actually won it.

Málaga was great!!

GuadalIndie was another unforgettable stop. Meeting so many of you in person, sharing the floor with fantastic indie creators, and feeling the love from the community made the event truly special. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth or simply dropped by to say hi. Your energy kept us going.

Altered Alma’s Booth at Málaga

BitSummit Japan

BitSummit was also packed with wonderful memories. Presenting Altered Alma alongside other remarkable indie titles and watching players discover the game was an amazing experience. From everyone who played the demo to the press who helped spread the word, we appreciate you deeply. Your enthusiasm fueled us all week long.

A quick trip to Japan for BitSummit!

Gamescom 2025

Another major highlight of the year, no doubt. We returned from Germany with hearts full and spirits high. The new Altered Alma demo received so much love; Jack never looked better shifting and dashing across the neon corners of the Spaceport.

Our Booth at Gamescom was always full!! Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who traveled to Cologne to try the demo, share kind words, or simply greet us. Your support means everything. ⚔️

BCN Game Fest

Wrapping up the year at Barcelona Game Fest (Previously IndieDev Day) felt perfect. Seeing players jump into the demo, explore secrets, and battle through challenges filled us with joy. Every reaction, every question, every moment of excitement reminded us why we make games.

Nothing like being at home! Thank you Barcelona.

🏙️ A Closer Look at Neo Barcelona’s New Biomes

As development continues, we’ve been pouring our passion into creating the stunning, unique environments of Neo Barcelona. Here’s what’s on the horizon:

Clavegeras & Undercity

Welcome one and all to Neo Barcelona’s biggest and shameless bar zone, take a seat! This rat infested, neon-drenched slimy grounded zone will teach you the very definition of scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Here you will find every person that had their troubles up there in the city, so be aware and don’t be surprised if they dislike the idea of moving up in the world.

Ramblas

The most well-known street in the whole Barcelona city center, connecting the Plaça de Catalunya with Port Vell, is a perfect place to visit, or just have a nice walk surrounded by trees!

Hill of God

In the world of Altered Alma, the legendary Hill of God—inspired by the real Montjuic in Barcelona—stands tall as the headquarters of The Crusaders, the city's elite law enforcers and mercenaries. Perched above Neo Barcelona, this towering stronghold is both a symbol of order and a fortress of power. The Crusaders rule from here, enforcing their own version of justice, whether the city agrees with it or not. Expect intimidating architecture, high-tech security, and an air of authority that makes it clear—this is not a place you enter lightly.

Each biome is being crafted to feel alive, with intricate details and gameplay opportunities that reflect Neo Barcelona’s essence. We’re incredibly excited to show you even more as development progresses!

✨ Looking Ahead to 2026

With such a strong foundation laid in 2025, we’re diving into 2026 with renewed energy and focus. Here’s what you can look forward to:

🕹️ More development updates and sneak peeks into gameplay.
🌟 New surprises, announcements and cool stuff we have for you!
📅 Progress updates as we march closer to completing Altered Alma.

The journey is far from over, and we’re so grateful to have you with us every step of the way.

From all of us at 2Awesome Studio, thank you for being part of Altered Alma’s journey. We wish you a joyful holiday season, and an incredible New Year filled with adventure, joy, and lots of gaming!

Here’s to an exciting 2025! 🥂

File #20 // November Update
6 months ago – Thu, Nov 27, 2025 at 05:51:36 AM

Hey there, awesome gang:

Welcome back for our 20th Update!! Once again, thank you so much for your incredible support since the beginning of Altered Alma’s journey! Every wishlist, every message and every moment we share together alongside our dear Jack, keeps us moving forward!

Hope Spooky season treated y’all well, and you’re getting ready for the Holliday's! Let’s get into this month’s updates!

Kickstarter BETA!

Thank you so much to everyone who joined the Beta Playtest!
We truly appreciate all the love and feedback you’ve been sharing with us; your kind words and opinions help us keep improving Altered Alma every step of the way!

Wave 1 is now complete, and we’re already preparing the next one. So if you weren’t selected this time, don’t worry… you might be in the next round!

We’ll reach out with a notification (and your Steam key!) if you’re selected for Wave 2.

Developer Updates 🎮

1. Feature Spotlight

Killshifts
We know you like when that Bladeshift turns into a Killshift… Oil and blood spilling everywhere as you finish your enemies ins the most stylish and brutal way possible!

I can almost hear the crunch!

Sweeper Bot
Do not confuse this little friend with a regular Roomba you can find in your home… this heavily modified sweeper bot tends to stain the streets with the blood of those who decide to underestimate them.

Maybe just better walk pass them, those spikes look really sharp.

2. Enemies, Threats, and Combat Adjustments

We’ve been hearing your feedback on different areas of the game, and we went to work into improving them, here are a few things we improved:

  • Parry – Adjusted the timing and responsiveness when parrying enemy attacks.
  • Bladeshift visual effects – Improved the visual effects of the Quantum Blade Impact and Shifting for better feeling.
  • Enemy Effects – Enemy killshift and unstoppable attacks are more visible for easier maneuvering.
  • Tutorial – Improving the tutorial section for a more natural learning of the base mechanics
Looks a little… Spiky

3. The world of Altered Alma

The streets of Neo Barcelona keep growing and becoming more dangerous, but that is part of the charm, isn’t it?

  • Environmental Effects: Different particles, effects and lightings were added to bring more life and style to the biome environments.
  • Romance: You may see them in the Demo and the Trailer, we are adding more… Spice, to the romance for those who decide to take the flirting route!
  • Storytelling: As development goes, Jacks story expands too, improving the dialogue systems, items and assets strengthening the bond between world design and story.

Jumpers

There are multiple ways to move around the city! The jumper pads are one of them.  You can’t reach because it’s too high? No problem, just bounce on them, and they’ll give you the impulse to reach new spots to hang, dash or blade shift.

It looks really fun!

4. Las Ramblas

The most well-known street in the whole Barcelona city center, connecting the Plaça de Catalunya with Port Vell, is a perfect place to visit, or just have a nice walk surrounded by trees!

But in Neo Barcelona it is a whole different story, filled with the most dangerous gangs of the city. And unfortunately for those who wanted a peaceful life, these guys actually learned what the word organized means (kinda). Joining together as the Harlquins, leadered by the ruthless Red Rosie.

A huge shoutout to everyone who’s been active on our Discord, giving us your love, support and feedback. Your input has been incredibly valuable and has helped us fine-tune the game and polish the final details. We’ve been taking tons of notes, and your excitement genuinely keeps us going.

With each update, we’re getting closer to bringing this world to life, and we honestly couldn’t do it without you. Thanks for being with us on this journey. We can’t wait to share even more soon.

See you in our next entry,
– 2Awesome Studio
